Something blue...

We know how difficult it can be to work "something blue" into your chosen colour scheme, as such UK Bridal Tiaras are proud to offer the "something blue" free service.

A blue crystal can be added to your choice of tiara. This would normally be somewhere on the base of the tiara, but can (if the style of tiara allows) be added to the design.

You can take advantage of this free service by simply selecting the "blue crystal" option when adding a tiara to your basket.

If the blue crystal option is not available for your chosen product it will not be shown in the options for that product.
The "something old" is said to show the durability of marriage and the continuity of your old life into the new married one. The item originally given to represent the old was an old garter which was given to the bride by a happily married women so that the new bride would also enjoy a happy marriage. This fell out of popularity with the straight laced victorians.

"something new" looks to the future and with it, health, happiness and success. These being mainly the new relationship and the new life it will generate with children.

"somthing borrowed" is an opportunity for the brides family to give her something as a token of their love. It must be returned however to ensure good luck. It is thought to represent two things firstly the the handing back to the family their possessions as the bride is now to start a family of her own. Also the fact that although the bride is starting her new married life her family are there if needed.

'Something Blue' is thought lucky because blue represents fidelity and constancy. The custom began in ancient Israel where brides wore a blue ribbon in their hair to symbolise their fidelity. This was popularised by the Christian faith as The Virgin Mary is usually depicted wearing blue.

A sixpence was placed in the shoe to bring the couple wealth in their married life. Some brides still place a penny in their shoe during the marriage ceremony.
If you don't want a blue crystal in your tiara what are the alternatives? You could ask your florist to wire a blue crystal into your bouquet, or even have it wound discretely around your bouquet holder.

Many garters have a blue bow attached so this may fit the bill, or you could sow a bow, ribbon or crystal to the garter yourself.

Before the something blue service was on offer to the public I had a blue crystal sewn into the lining of my gown. After the big day I had it made into a necklace which I can wear on special occasions, usually my wedding aniversary or valentines day.

I hope this has given you a few ideas on how blue can be incorporated into any colour scheme.
